Bondi Resort Blog

Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

The BBQ Barge... next chapter

Mike and Dave are designing their floating BBQ platform...

It's slow work. They found an old catamaran, but the top was rotted, so that was discarded. They figured they could salvage and recycle the pontoons.

Well, one floated. The other, evidently, not so much.

Nothing daunted, the lads set to work. It takes more than a lopsided platform to discourage them!

The pontoon was cleaned up, and then filled to the brim with empty plastic bottles, all tightly sealed up around their precious cargo of air. Evidently the pontoon is not the only object being recycled, reused, reimagined!

The philosophy is based on the same principal used to float some sunken boats -- fill 'em up with ping pong balls.

We're all awaiting the flotation test, hopefully later today, or tomorrow!

  1. You just have to love the men in your life!

I have to point out my video of my son-in-law rigging up a contraption to rescue his personally-designed wedding ring from the lake (for the 2nd or 3rd time?). I am sure your men would appreciate it.
For a computer engineer, he sure loves mechanics!

They come back for the 1st 2 weeks in August.
