When the apples ripen, we know autumn is drawing close.
So, too, when the corn harvest is over. But just because the delicious cobs of sweet corn are now gone from the table doesn't mean we cannot enjoy the corn. Brian and David were hard at it today cutting cornstalks. They will be used to decorate for the autumn season -- Lumina is busy with wedding guests, and they needed some. We always give some to the Dwight Library and the Dwight Post Office as well.
The rest we use here, or sell... so if you have a cottage and would like to add some seasonal decorations, just give us a call!
Brian got the corn garden roto-tilled. Next, we'll be digging potatoes, and tying up onions in bunches. Tomatoes are still thick on the vines, and Carol has brought in most of the garlic. Carrots and beans and beets are still prolific, and of course, the sunflowers are still providing a wonderful habitat for the local birds!
