"I am the Light"
Gloria Woodside send me this lovely photo of the little Glenmount Church, (also known as Norway Point Church) all beautifully lit at night.
It was just too pretty not to share!
This church was built in 1944, following the collapse of the original church after a heavy fall of snow.
That church was built in 1908. During the rebuild, the interior was left in its natural state, showing the beauty of the pine rafters and timbers and remains in its original design today. A large cathedral window allows the worshippers to look beyond the green woods and into the blue sky. The pulpit was saved from the cave-in along with the oak chancel chairs. The old hard backed chairs of the first church were replaced with the lovely oak pews that remain in place today. The church has and still remains the focus of the community of Norway Point.
In 1969, a memorial cairn with the original church bell was dedicated.
As the leaves start to fall, and the nights get cold, we are gearing up for the next season -- wonderful winter, just around the corner. Ski trails get readied, wood is stacked for the fireplaces, and we are ready for the snow -- which always gets the guys excited, because they love to ski!
Family time, and time to simply step away from the every day pressure of Life are increasingly critical. Making the time to allow you to be you -- that's the challenge. It can take a tetch of planning.
If you are looking for an authentic Muskoka cottage experience, with the services and conveniences of a Resort included, we are your destination.
Algonquin Park is open, there is plenty happening in the area for those who want to be active... Snowshoeing, skiing, skating, tobogganing -- or just hanging out: enjoy the view, watch for our wildlife, listen for our wolf pack, come out and meet our stars at night. There is lots to do, for all ages, plenty of room for kids to roam, games to happen, quiet spots to be discovered.
Give us a call. We've got your cottage waiting. We are now booking for the Christmas/New Years week as well as the winter to come!
