Fashionista

Taffy came home from the Dog Spa in late October, looking slim, trim and elegant. That was the up-side.

The down-side was that the weather is unsettled at best, downright cold at worst.

Out came our old dog Holly's hand-me-down jackets, and Surprise! they are way too large, and the raincoat is shredded.

If you have ever tried to deal with a wet, cold poodle you will understand. That wool coat soaks up water and is slow to dry -- although we learned through National Geographic that a Poodle shakes their body faster than a Labrador retriever.  Difference seems to be that with the Lab, the water actually leaves...

It is easier and more comfortable for all concerned if you can just keep the pup dry.

So I was just delighted to discover a Canadian company, based in Kanata, that could fit the bill.  Chilly Dogs, run by Julie Kelly, came to the rescue.

The service was excellent -- we spoke on the phone, she walked me through the four critical measurements and made recommendations based on the breed and age of the dog. The product was ordered Oct. 31, and arrived on November 2. That's impressive.

Hunting season opens here today -- so having Taffy's fawn colour covered up with something orange is a plus -- as is the highly reflective piping on the jacket!

Having her snug and warm in a rainproof jacket that looks good, fits well and is easy to handle is just what we wanted for the frosty mornings and November rains.

So here's a Shout Out to Chilly Dogs for their great product. Thanks Julie!  Taffy gives the jacket four paws up.
