Bondi Resort Blog

Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

Lighting the Night and Welcoming Santa to Town

What a busy start to the weekend it's been!

Thursday was Light Up Dwight night, at the Library, where the community gathered for good cheer, some great music, carol singing, glow sticks, great treats and hot cider and that lovely welcoming moment when the tree lights are turned on.

The glow sticks painted wonderful patterns in the night air.

Phil Pavey loans his tree service equipment to put the lights up on that huge green pine in the background. This year, Mr. Squirrel had chewed through one of the cords -- naturally it was the one at the very very top!

Joy, Sanford and Barb and tell me that they are better known as "Love, Hope and Joy..." Who are we to argue?

Friday, it was off to Huntsville for the Santa Claus Parade. It was a long one this year! Finding parking spots was a challenge!  We went early, had dinner, and then hit the street.

It's always fun to see the floats -- and recognize friends waving back from them!

Cheers to our good friend Laurel, who is fund raising for the ME to WE trip to Nicaragua this year.

One of our favourite floats was from our buddies at Algonquin Outfitters -- canoes and kayaks on the truck roof and an entire winter of fun outdoor activities behind them on the truck!

We learned something too -- TreeTop Trekking tells us that they are going to be open during the winter for zip-lining. They handed us business cards, and candy canes!

Carol and I went from there to the Barra McNeil Christmas concert at the Algonquin Theatre.  All those folks who ask, "What do you DO up there this time of year?"  Well, this is the answer.  PLENTY!
