Bondi Resort Blog

Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

Rink Ready

We know that a lot of our regular guests follow this Blog, and we hope that some of our future guests also dip into it from time to time.  We also hear that quite a few of our Lake neighbours follow along -- all of which is wonderful.

So we are happy to report that our toboggan hill and ski trails are open.  And now - so is our skating rink!

skating trail at Arrowhead. Zoe shows us how!
While clearing off the rink, I did wonder if it would get much use -- the Skating Trail through the woods at Arrowhead is a great winter addition up here, tremendous fun and the only place (as Lesley told us) where you get to skate uphill.   Algonquin Park has joined in, flooding the Mew Lake parking lot as a rink.  And of course, there is free skate at both the Baysville arena and the Summit Centre arena in Huntsville, as well as at both the Dwight and Dorset outdoor municipal rinks.  So, it crossed my mind as I pushed that shovel, that I might be pushing the skating envelope.

It was a delight to see the guests stream onto the surface almost as soon as it was clear. Yesterday say an almost endless game of shinny.  The best part is that the kids can be back in the cottages in a matter of minutes -- nobody has to get in the car, they just have to scamper down to the lake.

And today, bright an early to greet the New Year, it was already alive with happy kids.  And that is the way skating, and shinny, and life in general, is meant to be!

  1. I don't skate myself, but I think that notion of the skating trail at Arrowhead is a really good idea. Like the Rideau Canal, it means for a change of scenery as you skate.
