Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

Back You Go!

The boys were angling for pike. Dreaming of perhaps a trout...

but the fish that bit was this beautiful smallmouth bass.

Now... quickly we point out two facts:
This fish was unharmed and live released.
Bass are not in season.

And now a few more facts:  at this time of year, the bass are on their 'nests', the males protecting their young. And they are hungry, so yes, they are likely to hit on just about anything.  But if you were to keep that fish, out of season, you would condemn the entire hatch of baby bass to death, and that is just plain stupid.

So Dave and Mike were very gentle in unhooking this splendid chap, said a quick hello, and slipped him back into the Lake where he belongs.

  1. Good that the fish gets to go back into the water. Admittedly, I don't care for the taste of fish, so I wouldn't fish for a meal in the first place even in season.
